Noise, Umbrellas, Ipods and Community? HEAR NYC collaboratively explores the humor and heartbreak of alienation in New York City through performance, film and sound. Journey with us as we explore our city and it's dimensions in search of how linked together we are to our joy or chagrin. You might cringe, but you will definitely laugh as we break down the stereotypes that are forming us as New Yorkers for better or for worse.
HEAR NYC was collaboratively built around improvisation, interviews and overheard sounds and conversations in NYC. The show was produced by Genevieve Gearhart and Julianne Just, directed by Erinina Marie Ness, created and performed by Naomi Finkelstein, Saida Cooper, Lindsay Strachan, Evan Shafran, and Mike Cooke, and designed by Sam Silver, Acacia Graddy-Gamel, Eve Cuyen, Brett Van Aalsburg, Midge Denton, Kara Gillam and Andi Cohen.
HEAR NYC is available for touring as a piece about NYC or with the potential to create a new piece based on your community, i.e. HEAR BOSTON.
Email Erinina for a sample DVD and description of our process.
